Jarrett Hanley is a lifelong North Shore resident born in Lynn and later raised in Danvers, MA. He attended Salem State University studying Communications and Public Speaking. During his college career served as Secretary of the National Communications Honor Society planning social and educational events for his major department while also interning in the promotions department at KISS 108 FM where he was later hired as a member of the Street Team. After graduating with honors in 2008, Jarrett spent his 20’s waiting tables and moonlighting at different part time jobs around the North Shore searching to find his niche. While struggling at first to find work that felt meaningful and paid the bills, in each position he held Jarrett found himself drawn to the role of acting as a connector, a friendly face seeking to bring people together and make everyone feel welcome and included. That connector role later led to one of Jarrett’s greatest achievements after he accepted a position as a server at Red Lantern Restaurant & Lounge in Boston 2012.
His strong background in hospitality helped him climb the professional ladder when he was promoted to lead private event server, Sales Associate and Assistant Sales Manager for Red Lantern’s parent company Big Night Entertainment Group. Now as Sales Manager, Jarrett works on the team that oversees all private events for Red Lantern and sister restaurant Empire in Boston’s Seaport District. Inspired by the inclusive culture at Big Night, in 2014 Jarrett created the Out Professional Executive Networking (O.P.E.N.) event series at Empire as a means to bring Boston’s LGBTQ professionals and organizations together under one roof to network and build new relationships and brand the venue as a safe space for the community to feel welcome. Through hosting the O.P.E.N. events Jarrett began forming relationships with various organizations that support the LGBTQ community, which is how he first started working with North Shore Pride. Now in his role as part of NSP’s Board of Directors, Jarrett is excited and grateful to be able to serve the local community where he was raised and contribute to NSP’s mission of building community with pride for the current and future generations here on the North Shore.
